Where to put a guinea pig during a business trip or vacation?
A long-awaited vacation or business trip awaits you, and the anticipation of travel is overshadowed by only one concern: where to put a guinea pig on a business trip or vacation?
There are two options for solving the problem: take a guinea pig with you or entrust someone with caring for the animal. You should choose, however, there are rules that will help make your absence more comfortable for your pet and allow you to feel relaxed.
If you entrust someone with caring for a guinea pig, it is better to leave the animal in the familiar cage, where it feels at home, even at someone's party. You can transport the animal to a new temporary shelter in the same cage, but to protect the pet from the draft, curtain it with a scarf or a loose cloth. If the fabric or cloth is too dense, oxygen starvation is possible. Leave a supply of feed and detailed instructions for the nanny.
If the road from point A to point B is short-lived, you can transport the guinea pig in a cardboard box.
But if you are going on a long trip, it is better to purchase a transport container in advance. They are usually equipped with guinea pig carrying handles and well-ventilated covers.
Take care of paper or sawdust. Put the hay - the animal can eat and calm down, and in addition, you can burrow into the hay. Thanks to the transparent walls, you can see the animal and track its condition.
If your pet is a seasoned traveler, he may peek out from the carry, but for a shy animal it is better to create a dimming.
If it is cold outside, you can additionally cover the container with a blanket or scarf or put a bottle of warm water under the container.
