Wine-chested Amazon is a short-tailed parrot with a body length of about 30 cm and weighing up to 370 g. Birds of both sexes are colored the same. The main body color is green. There are red long spots on the shoulders. The beak is quite powerful, red. Periorbital ring gray. Eyes are orange-brown. Paws are gray. This is the only species among all Amazons that has a red beak.

The wine-chested Amazon lives in southeastern Brazil and Paraguay, as well as northeast Argentina. The world population of wild birds totals 1000 - 2500 individuals. The species is threatened with extinction associated with the destruction of their natural habitats. Birds compete with each other for nesting sites. In addition, they are caught from nature for resale.
They live at an altitude of 1200 to 2000 meters above sea level in tropical and subtropical evergreen mixed forests. Brazil has coastal forests.
In the diet of wine-chested Amazons, flowers, fruits, various seeds, sometimes visit agricultural land, but they do not cause damage to crops.
Wine-chested Amazons are kept mainly in pairs or small packs of up to 30 individuals.

Breeding Amazon
The nesting period of the wine-breasted Amazon falls on September - January. They nest in large cavities of trees, but occasionally they can nest in rocks. In clutch 3 - 4 eggs.
